Anyone Row Crew?

So I'm starting college in the fall and I'm really excited with the novice crew team. I'm pretty athletic, I ran cross country and track in high school, but I've never rowed before. Everyone that I have talked to about crew says it's an amazing experience and the ultimate team sport. I'm really excited for the team part because cross country and track are individual sports because you are being timed for your time and you don't have to rely on anyone else. Has anyone ever rowed before? I also hear it pretty much takes over your life because you're rowing in the early morning at 5 AM and the races are on the weekends so you have to go to bed early, and finish all of your homework early so you're not all tired for the morning practice. Fortunately I am a morning person so hopefully it'll be a lot of fun.
